| Fra tutti i paesi costieri della provincia di Vibo, Parghelia è certamente uno dei più suggestivi: ma per quel che suggerisce più che per quanto mostra effettivamente. | ||

Conosciuto da sempre come la località
delle più belle donne di Calabria, era chiamato in origine
Paralia con parola prettamente greca, sia nell’antico che nel
moderno, che significa lido marino, costa. Anche Atene aveva un rione
chiamato Paralìa, perché era vicino al mare o perché
era il quartiere dei pescatori, o ancora perché era posto vicino
ad uno dei suoi porti. Purtroppo nessuna testimonianza archeologica è mai stata rinvenuta nel territorio di Parghelia, ed anche se la leggenda racconta che l’insediamento era circondato da 24 torri a sua difesa, in realtà nessuno ha mai visto queste torri, né mai se ne sono trovati i loro resti. Alla fine del XV secolo, con la venuta degli ebrei scacciati dalla Spagna e convertiti, a Parghelia cominciava una nuova vita. Sulla sua meravigliosa pianura costiera si incominciarono a costruire case, botteghe, ed altri edifici con particolari forme architettoniche che si possono notare nelle altre località del bacino del Mediterraneo ove vi sono stati agglomerati musulmani ed ebraici. Tuttavia, anche se oggi usi e costumi non sono più gli stessi per le mutate condizioni sociali, storiche e politiche, non si può negare che gli affetti, i sentimenti della comunità di Parghelia sono più forti che per altri paesi anche più ricchi e famosi. Quanti gli oriundi paraliesi disseminati nel mondo che hanno raggiunto posizioni ragguardevoli! Una barca sul mare, non abbandonata ma pronta a partire, è sembrato il modo più corretto e meno appariscente per ricordare la singolarità di questo paese bello e gentile. |

| Parmi tous les villages côtiers de la province de Vibo, Parghelia est sûrement un des plus suggestifs, en raison des sensations qu’il inspire plutôt que des images qu’il montre. Connu comme la localité des plus belles femmes de la Calabre, il était nommé Paralia, mot d’origine grecque qui signifie plage, côte. En effet Athène avait un quartier nommé Paralia, à cause de sa position près de la mer ou à cause des pêcheurs qui l’habitaient. Cependant on n’a retrouvé aucune trace archéologique dans le territoire de Parghelia de l’établissement qui, selon la légende, était entouré par 24 tours. À la fin du XV siècle à Parghelia commença une nouvelle vie, grâce à l’arrivée des Hébreux exiliés de l’Espagne et convertis. Au dessus de son éblouissant plateau côtier furent construits des maisons, des magasins et d’autres édifices aux particulières formes architectoniques, qu’on peut admirer le long du bassin de la mer Méditérranée, dans les lieux où s’établirent des musulmans et des hébreux. Même si aujourd’hui les traditions et les coutumes ont changé, à cause des changements sociaux, historiques et politiques, les sentiments sont plus ressentis ici qu’ailleurs. Combien d’habitants originaires de Parghelia, parsemés autour du monde ont atteint des importantes charges ! Un bateau sur la mer, prêt au départ a été considéré l’image la plus naturelle pour présenter la particularité de ce village éclatant et courtois. | |||||

| Between all coast countries of Vibo Valentia, Parghelia is the most suggestive certainly, but more for that suggests us than how it really shows. Known always like the place of the beautiful calabresi women, it was called first Paralia with Greek word, both in old (Greek) and in modern. that means sea beach Athens had also a quarter called Paralìa, because it was near the sea or it was fishermen quarter, or it was placed near to one of its ports. Unfortunately no archaeological testimony was found in the locality of Parghelia, and even if the legend tells about the installation surrounded by 24 towers as a defence, it is true that nobody has saw these towers, or has found their rests. At the end of XV century, with the arrive of the Jews drove out from Spain and converted, in Parghelia began another life. On its wonderful coast plain people built houses, shops, and other buildings with their particular architectural forms which we can note in the other places of the Mediterranean basin where there have been Muslims and Hebrew agglomerated. Even if uses and habits are no more the same for the changed social, historical and politics conditions, it can not deny that affections, feelings of Parghelia community are stronger than in other richest and most famous countries. How are the descent of Parallax scattered in the world now became very important. A boat on the sea, no left but ready to start, it seemed the right way and less showy to remember the singularity of this country. | |||||

| Unter allen Küstendörfern der Provinz Vibo Valentia ist Parghelia das zauberndeste bestimmt. Es ist bekannt, weil die schönsten Frauen Kalabriens hier wohnen und ursprünglich wurde es Paralia (ein griechisches Wort) genannt; es heißt Lido (Küste). Atene hatte auch ein Viertel, das Paralia genannt wurde, weil es am Meer lad oder das Viertel der Fischer war, oder noch, weil es in der Nähe eines seiner Hafen lag. Leider ist kein archäologisches Zeugnis ans Licht gebracht worden, obwohl die Legende erzählt, dass die Ursiedlung durch 24 Verteidigungstürme ungerungen war. Tatsächlich hat niemand weder diese Türme gesehen, noch sind die Reste gefunden wurden. Am Ende des 15. Jhs. fing ein neues Leben infolge der Ankunft der Juden an, die von Spanien verjagt worden waren und zum Christentum bekehrt. Auf der wunderbaren Küstenebene fing man an, Häuser, Werkstätte und andere Gebäude zu bauen; sie zeigen besondere architektonische Forme, die man auch in den anderen jüdischen und muselmanischen Mittelmeerortschaften bemerken kann. Dennoch obwohl Sitte und Gebräuche, wegen der gesellschaftlichen, geschichtlichen und politischen Voraussetzung verändert sind, kann man nicht verneinen, dass die Lieben, die Gefühle der Gemeinschaft stärker als der anderen reicheren und berühmteren Dörfer seien. "Ein reisefertiges unverlassenes Schiff": ist es vielleicht das richtigste Abbild, um die Einzigkeit dieses schönen und freundlichen Dorfes zu erinnern. | |||||
