| La
catena delle Serre è costituita da due lunghe successioni parallele
di rilievi montuosi e collinari che ricordano nell’allineamento
i denti di una sega: fino al secolo scorso questi monti erano ammantati
da una foresta così fitta e imponente che uno studioso inglese
in visita nel 1828 ne scrisse: "...vi era qualcosa di tanto selvaggio e di tanto tenebroso in quelle montagne, dai boschi fitti ed oscuri, da soggiogare la mente". |

Ancora oggi queste montagne colpiscono per l’atmosfera cupa e misteriosa: estese foreste miste di latifoglie e di conifere scendono dalle cime più elevate fin quasi a valle, intersecate da un labirinto di ruscelli e da potenti ammassi di rocce granitiche. Oltre al bosco di Santa Maria che si stende a sud-ovest di Serra San Bruno ed è famoso per aver ospitato il primo insediamento certosino, si può ricordare il solitario e maestoso bosco Archiforo, a sud-est del centro abitato principale e della sua Certosa fondata alla fine dell’XI secolo da Brunone di Colonia: entrambi offrono ancora angoli ben conservati con atmosfere fiabesche nei quali passeggiare è come tuffarsi in un passato senza tempo. In questi boschi si incontrano spesso carbonaie che attirano la curiosità dei visitatori, e anche di fotografi che ne fanno soggetto inimitabile delle loro immagini: ma in questo caso il fotografo dietro l’obbiettivo fotografa sia la carbonaia sia un altro fotografo stupito dalla suggestione dell’ambiente. |

| La chaîne des Serre est constituée de deux longues suites parallèles de montagnes et de collines qui ressemblent aux dents d’une scie: jusqu’au siècle dernier ces reliefs étaient couverts par une forêt au feuillage épais et imposant qu’un écrivain anglais, au cours d’une visite au 1828 écrit: "... ces montagnes, aux bois épais et obscurs renfermaient un tel sens de sauvage et mystérieux à subjuguer l’esprit". Encore aujourd’hui ces reliefs effrayent en raison de l’air sombre et ténébreux: d’immenses forêts entremêlées de latifoliés et de conifères descendent des sommets les plus élevés presque jusqu’à la vallée, entrelacées d’un labyrinthe de ruisseaux et de puissants rochers granitiques. Outre le bois de Sainte Marie, qui s’étend à sud-ouest de Serra San Bruno et célèbre pour l’abri donné au premier établissement chartreux, on peut rappeler le bois Archiforo, sauvage et majestueux, à sud-est du centre urbain et de sa Chartreuse construite à la fin du XI siècle par Brunone de Colonia: tous les deux offrent encore des coins bien conservés, aux airs merveilleux où on peut se promener en évoquant un passé au delà du temps. Parmi ses bois l’on peut rencontrer des charbonnières qui reveillent l’intérêt des touristes et des photographes qui font de ces lieux des images remarquables; mais tandis que le photographe imprime l’image de la charbonnière, l’autre en subit la suggestion du cadre naturel. | ||||
| Under the wood... coal | ||||
| The mountain range of Serre is constituted by two long parallels sequences of mountains and hilly remembering in the laying out the tooth of a saw: till the past century these mountains were covered by a so thick and imposing forest that an English author in 1828 wrote about it: "…there was something wild and dark in those mountains, of thick and dark woods, to subjugate mind." Today these mountains surprise us for the dark and the mysterious atmosphere: large forests mixed of broad-leaf and of conifers come down from the highest tops to the valley, intersected by a labyrinth of rivers and by powerful masses of granites rocks. Beside the wood of Santa Maria that stretches towards southwest of Serra San Bruno and it is famous to housed the first carthusian installation, we remember the solitary and great Archiforo wood, towards south-east from the principal inhabited centre and of its Certosa founded at the end of XI century by Brunone of Colonia: both offer well maintained angles with fabulous atmospheres where walking is like dip oneself in a timeless past. In these woods we can meet coal woman that attract visitors attention, and photographers use them as own inimitable subject of their images (photographs): in this case behind their objective there is a coal woman and another one stupefied photographs the suggestive environment. | ||||

| Die Gebirgskette der Serre besteht aus langen und gleichlaufenden Hügel- und Gebirgsreihen, die an die Zähne einer Säge erinnern. Bis zum vergangenen Jahrhundert waren diese Gebirgen mit so dicken Wäldern bedeckt, dass ein bekannter englischer Gelehrte, der die Region im Jahre 1828 besuchte, schrieb: "Es gab etwas so Wildes und Geheimnes in jenen Gebirgen mit dichten und dunklen Wäldern, das den Geist beherrscht". Noch heute beeindrücken die Gebirgen wegen der dunklen und geheimnisvollen Atmosphäre; breite Wälder aus Nadel und Laubbäume steigen von den höchsten Spitzen bis ins Tal herunter, die durch Bächelabyrinthe und mächtige Felsen aus Granit gekreuzt werden. Außer dem sich südwestlich von Serra S. Bruno ausgedehnten Wald Santa Maria, der sehr bekannt ist, weil die ersten Kartäusersiedlungen hier sitzen, ist der großartige Wald Archifiro, der südöstlich von der Ortschaft und der Kartause liegt. Die Kartause wurde am Ende des 9. Jahrhunderts von Brunone aus Köln gegründet. Beide bieten noch schöne aufbewahrte Ecke mit Märchenatmosphäre an, wo man spazierengehen kann; hier ist es noch möglich, in eine zeitlose Vergangenheit zu tauchen. Man trifft oft Meiler in diesen Wäldern, die die Neugier sowohl der Besuchers als auch der Photographen gewinnen und sie werden unnachahmliches Thema ihrer Bilder. In diesem Fall photographiert der Photograph den Meiler und einen anderen über die landschaftliche Schönheit erstaunenden Photograph. | ||||
