Calabria
is located in the southern part of Italy. It is divided into
five districts: Catanzaro, Cosenza, Crotone, Reggio Calabria
and Vibo Valentia. From a historical and cultural point of
view, Calabria is a melting pot of races, historic events,
myths and legends, which gave rise to its extraordinary geographical
and human aspects.
The morphology of Calabria is rather complex, both for its
shape and the location of its mountains and rivers are scarce.
Almost 85% of the population of Calabria live in flat areas,
especially in the Vallo of Crati, on the Tyrrhenian coast,
in the area between Sila and Serre, in the area of Gioia Tauro
and on the borders of Poro and Serre. As regards to the Calabrian
economy, agriculture plays a role of paramount importance.
Timber, fishing and sheep breeding represent activities of
major importance.
Recent years have witnessed a rapid growth of agri-tourism
owing to the natural resources and exploitation of the hinterland.
Natural beauty abounds in Calabria. The landscape of Serre
Vibonesi has more than one up-lands of outstanding geographical
and economic importance considering the grazing lands, the
woods and the vegetation, typical of the warm Mediterranean
climate.
Thanks to its Mediterranean climate the area is possessed
of a bioclimatic zone of vital importance and vegetation presents
worthy of remark evergreen thermophilous elements. Of esteemed
value is the fern "Woodwardia Radicands" attraction
for experts and tourists coming from all over the world.
Gastronomy in Calabria is rich in old flavors. A particular
kind of handmade pasta from the Serre Vibonesi area called
"fileja" cooked with meat sauce or legumes prevails
over other dishes. Serre mushrooms with tagliatelles and various
local cheeses and sausages also have a very special taste.
In the area of Capo Vaticano famous are the soup and the omelet
with red onion and the "courgette flowers frittelle".
Folkloric activities in Calabria originate from the old tradition.

most frequent events.
